Whenever I travel to south Florida, specifically Key West, I always rent a house or condo. Typically I refer to http://www.vacationhomesofkeywest.com. I agree that it is a nice feeling to rent a home in certain areas of the U.S. to experience the local lifestyle… i.e. the furniture, outdoor space and front porch. Sitting on my front porch in Chicago in the winter is not near as pleasant.

In Australia it is much easier to stay at a condo, townhouse or home. When traveling there, we often use http://www.stayz.com.au/ to help us find a convenient space, with more comforts of home so everyone can be together - but have their own space.

Does anyone think this would be really successful here? I know there are some vacation home rental sites, but we don't seem to be as comfortable with this as the Ausies... any ideas why?

I think this is a great idea - and will use this hotel for my next trip to NYC. Unlike the "tubes" in Tokyo that would make me claustrophobic, the "pod" seems reasonable - especially in a City with so much to offer you're almost never in the room, any way! Thanks for sharing.

Excellent idea… Will “Lewis” always have a conference in Florida during the winter?

Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Nike are three of the most recognized brands around the world. If Phil McAveety had anything to do with helping Nike capture brand supremacy, Starwood should be in good hands.
